Lock the Bathroom Door...

Today, I dropped off my son early this afternoon.  It was lunch time, and I asked him if he would like to go to the drive thru and get a burger.  He said yes, so off I went to the nearest burger drive thru establishment.  Naturally, because it was almost noon, there was a line.  The bathrooms of the burger place faces the drive thru line, and there we were, right in front of the men's and women's bathroom doors.  This brought us back to an incident we had witnessed years before.

PLEASE remember, when going into a public restroom, LOCK THE DOOR!!!  I will never forget that poor man we saw sitting on the toilet, while we were in line for the drive thru.  The memory probably haunts him as it haunts us today.  He obviously forgot to lock the door when he went inside.

We were waiting in line, talking amongst ourselves in the car, when we saw a man approach the men's bathroom door.  We watched him open the door, and there he was, for all the world to see:  the dark hair guy with a moustache with his pants at his ankles, exposed for all  world to see--which were a woman in the car next to do the door and her two young kids, (us), and the man who innocently opened the door...

  "Gee, sorry man!"  he exclaimed.

   "It's okay..".

It's okay?!  I tried to turn my head as quickly as possible, but you know that moment of shock, where you just find yourself frozen for a minute there because you just saw something you know you shouldn't have seen, and it takes you a minute for your brain to fully register and to tell you to TURN AWAY NOW!!!  Well, of course the kids all got a good chuckle out of it, but I felt so badly for that poor man.  I just wish I could get that vision of him sitting on toilet out of my memory.

I hope in some way this entry will alert someone to be extra careful while using public restrooms!!!

Weekend Assignment #114: Things You Like Now But Not Then

Weekend Assignment #114: Things You Like Now But Not Then :

Hmmm...  I can honestly say that I swore I would never eat a prune or drink tomato juice, but as I've grown older and wiser, I've found that prunes can be quite tasty,

and tomato juice is quite nice--especially if it's in a Bloody Mary!!

Yes, I eat my vegetables, and the fruit keeps me regular.

Extra Credit:  However, I refuse to eat liver.  I remember seeing it in my grandmother's kitchen, and she would cook it quite often.  I can still smell it.  Ewww.  It was always kept in a white plastic container, and she would leave it out near her red, plastic cookie jar that she kept those bland Stella Doro cookies.  Another food that I refuse never to eat is Grape Nuts--might as well just get a bowl and fill it with rocks!  Life is too short for that.

Yeah...WE won something!!!

Exhausted

I am sooo tierd.  Nevermind it's past 11 pm already.  I've been waiting for the "little guy" to finally fall asleep.  He has been rather quiet, but Winnie the Pooh video he has been watching is not quite over yet.  I should really turn it off, and try to get him in his crib without him waking up.

This weekend has been very busy...  Prom weekend.  Thank God that is over.  I really didn't mind being the "driver" of the evening.  I would have much rather done that then sit at home to wonder where my teenage daughter was at 2 am.  I'm so glad she doesn't drive.  I'm so glad her date doesn't drive...  :)  It's a good feeling....  NOW, it's just graduation stuff to plan for...  I just cannot believe it's June, and half of the year is over...  Damn..it DOES seem like the years just fly by when you get older--Daddy was right.

I am now working full time again at work, and taking breaks doing the diaper change for the little guy.  YES...  I did get him a potty, and it's sitting in his room untouched.  "I don't like it.  I don't want the potty!"  Sigh..  I know that one day this will all be a memory, and I will find myself fondly looking back at my youngest toddler years, but right now, these terrible 2's are really exhausting.  Okay, it's suppossed to be called "Terrific Twos!"  But honestly, who are we kidding?!

Okay, I'm tierd, and here I am on this evil machine.  Time to retire into my bed and snuggle with my honey bear.  Hopefully it will just be him and me tonight; although I have to admit, sometimes there is nothing more sweet than being awaken by little butterfly kisses, no matter how slobbery they are from a two year old.  But then again, being kicked in the head by the foot of a two year old is not as pleasant.  Okay, wish me luck...goodnight...to whomever...not like you care or anything....ha.

Unsolved Case/Lizzie Borden

Well, I'm a proud mother hen..  The last days of my daughter's senior high school year our upon us, and she has been a busy girl!  The last few weeks she has been keeping me busy with prom plans, award ceremonies, plays...etc..  She won a few certificates the last few days for her Thespian Theatre engagements, as well as a certificate for Outstanding Defense Attorney for her mock trial classes...  She just finished her last project from her mock trial class-a multimedia project, and she chose the trial of Lizzie Borden.

Not only is this case unimaginable and creepy (she wasn't able to work on this project late at night because of the gruesome pictures of the victims), but it still remains to be unsolved.  Lizzie Borden was accused of the murders of both her father and step-mother, but was found not guilty for lack of evidence.  Sure, she had tried to purchase some poison from the drug store the following day, and sure, she had been seen burning  the blue dress she was seen wearing on the day of the murder, the following day...BUT, the ax handle of the murder weapon was not found.  No fingerprints, no DNA, case closed.  The only other person who was found questionable was the Portuguese (of course) gardener who came to collect his pay that day who was sent away, and told to come the following afternoon.  This person was soon cleared.  The only other people in the home that day was the maid, and Lizzie.  Witnesses did say they had seen two  men around the house during the day of the murder, along side the back where the ax was kept near the yard of the Borden home.  The defense argued that because of lack of evidence, the accused Lizzie Borden would have had killed both of them while in the nude.  Somehow, I don't think that could have happened myself.  Do you how modest women back in the late 1800's dressed?!  Anyhoo, I wonder, if this trial had taken place today, what would have happened?

Lizzie Borden lived her years alone, unmarried, along with her older sister Emma, and they both died 8 days after one another.  They must have had a very tight sisterly bond.  Perhaps they were in it together?  Who knows.....  There is talk that the Borden home is haunted, and it's a Bed & Breakfast?!!  Eeeekk.....  Did I mention my daughter's name is also Lizzie?

She was a little freaked out by it, and it wasn't until she was in the middle of the project did she regret picking this particular trial.  So happens, in Lizzie Borden's later years, she was also involved in theatre arts, which my daughter found a little amusing since it is an interest they both share.  Late nights however, over the pictures and story of the case were getting a little frightening for my daughter.  I guess she was having those "Emily Dickinson" moments I had experienced when I was her age.  You know those moments where you are tired, and every little sound is heard, and eyes in the pictures seem to be staring at you..?  Well, my daughter added music to her little project, and one of the songs she chose has a verse that goes.."stabbed in the back"...  This particular verse skipped a few too many times one evening....  She ran upstairs, left all the nights on, and left her T.V. and light on... Poor Lizzie, but she got an A+, so I guess it was worth it.

Busy..busy..busy

It's been a busy week..at work, home..etc...  Just playing catch up with all the crappola I have at work..and I think I've got to that point.  I just bombarded some co-workers with new file cases to increase their work loads.  I'm sure they are thrilled that I've returned!  The boxes of files and stacks of new court papers have finally left my desk, and because of this I am glad!  I must admit however, that doing the non-stop paperwork, even only part time, really can take it's toll.  It is kind of creepy when I find myself remembering the name of each case I entered, or when my hand magically finds the file I'm looking for in the file room.  Has that ever happened to you?  I mean, you suspect a file is in one area, and you actually grab the file you were looking for?!  Or, stranger still, when your hands seem to work faster than your brain; when your fingers reach for the keys on the keyboard as if they have little minds of their own...  It is a little strange.

Oh, and I must mention the "charming" phone interaction I had with the ex-husband the other day.  It is so strange how the mere sound of his voice can send me right down into another well.  Errrgg...  Did I mention how I detest liars?  I don't know what is worse, a liar who just lies and forgets what they lie about, or someone who just lies and totally live contrary to what they claim.  It kind of questions the intelligence of the person who is being lied to, and that just drives me insane, and it also makes me want to throw things, or better yet, throw heavy things at a certain person.  Fortunately, NJ is much too far away to have things thrown, and for this I am very grateful.  Besides, I've already written 2 letters, which I have promptly discarded after coming to the conclusion that no matter what I write, it's not going to change anything.  Nope-just a way of release, that is all, but this is good.  I shouldn't have to prove anything, so why--perhaps maybe only for myself.

Anyway...enough with ranting and raving over the loser.  Taylor Hicks just won American Idol, is that great or what?!  Okay, it wasn't my favorite show, but it was something to watch now that Amazing Race is over.  Now there is nothing to watch.  GOOD EXCUSE to not watch the tube, and more reason to go out and do some walking now that the weather is sooooo nice :)  Perhaps I will take a nice long one tomorrow near the ocean!  YAHOOOO!!

Words to LIVE by

Read Each One Carefully and Think About It a Second or Two

2. No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is, won't make you cry.

3. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

4. A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.

5. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them.

6. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.

7. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
8. Don't waste your time on a man/woman, who isn't willing to waste their time on you.

9. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.

10. Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.

11. There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting and just be more careful about who you trust next time around.

12. Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you.
13. Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.
