As far as I know, I don't have a smidgen of Irish in me. But on St. Patrick's Day, they say everyone is Irish, right?
I got some Irish luck this afternoon. Perhaps it was because I was wearing my green sweater, and Nicholas was also dressed in green from head to toe. Or, may be it was the wail of the bag pipes that were playing in front of the Irish pub we passed on our way through town. Who knows..
On the way home this afternoon, I turned on the radio, and Nicholas asked to hear the "picture away song." I don't remember the title of it off hand, but it's the duet with Sheryl Crowe and Kid Rock. Andrew recorded it on a CD for me along with some other songs, and Nicholas just adores that CD. Of course, I didn't have it with me. After trying to explain to Nick that it was the radio playing, not the CD, low and behold, the "picture away song" does come on. Nicholas is thrilled, and sings along with it. It's pretty cute actually. I just have to get it recorded. His impression of Kid Rock singing "drink you away..drink you away.." it pretty entertaining.
Anyway, we are driving along, and the song ends, and Nicholas thinking I did have the CD on asks for "You're Beautiful" song-the one sung by James Blunt. I try to explain to him again that it was the radio. Then the announcer lady comes on and announces she was giving out free concert/dinner tickets, and she was looking for the 13th caller. I thought to myself, "wow, wouldn't it be nice if I won tickets.. I could take Lizzy and Tania and her boyfriend along.." I called, it was busy of course.. Called again, busy... Called again..and whoa, I was caller 13! YAY!
Thursday night I have tickets for four to see Vanessa Carlton in a private concert at a restaurant. I'm taking Lizzy, Tania & her boyfriend. I would ask hubby, but he really isn't interested in those get togethers. I forced him to the last 80's "prom" the radio station threw, and I promised I wouldn't force him through another geeky event. I do think it will be fun. I'm not a huge fan, but I think she is pretty talented, and I do think Tania and Lizzy will enjoy it.
After I won the tickets, guess what song came up next? Yep, you guessed it, "You're Beautiful" a la James Blunt--the edited version-he was "flying high." Nicholas was thrilled. I drove an extra five blocks up the street so he could sing to the very end of the song.
I'm kicking myself right now for not remembering to buy myself a lottery ticket!
