Weekend Assignment #110: Strange Dreams :
I've had some REALLY strange dreams.
Celebrity Dreams:
I've had a dream with Will Smith. I have NO IDEA why I would dream about Will Smith, because I'm not a real fan of the man. Perhaps it was because I had been watching too many episodes of Fresh Prince of Bel Air, I really don't know. I don't remember too much about the dream, other than it was kind of naughty. (hee, hee, hee)
I also had a dream about the singer, Pink and her husband. I have no idea WHY, but the dream was interesting. I was with my daughter in the dream, and they had invited us to their home for a party. In the dream, Pink and I were trying on shoes. That is all that I remember, other than remembering being in a large house, and being whisked away in a very fancy Bentley.
"Psycho" Dreams:
Besides those strange, celebrity dreams, I've had a number of weird, almost forbearing dreams about my future. For example, I don't like having dreams of rising water, crossing the water, or seeing dead animals--not good dreams. My dreams sometimes are pretty intuitive at times. I guess it's my "special" way of preparing myself to certain bad news..struggles... I just don't like them.
I've also have had dreams of being in a car, not knowing where I was going, getting lost, and unable to reach anyone on a phone. I hate these dreams, because once I've gotten to a phone, I immediately forget the number, or the phone doesn't work. I've also had dreams of arriving to important places with slippers on. It's all about anxiety--I know...
BUT, the #1 recurring dream I used to have were of BULLS!!!
In my dreams, I've been chased by bulls. I'm running down an empty street, and there is this bull, following me down the streets, until I'm trapped somewhere and pinned down by it. I had one dream in particular, that I could hear it's hooves scratch the street, and actually feel the breath coming from it's nostrils.
Portuguese wives tales tell me that dreams with bulls foretell a fight or disagreement with a loved one. That could explain why I've had a number of these dreams while I was still married to my ex-husband. I think the last time I had a dream with a bull was when I was going through my divorce with this "charming" man. Perhaps, the bull represented him, the ex-husband?!
Or, does the bull represent fear?
Since a young child, I've always been afraid of Bulls. I am guessing that it all began when I was 5 years old. I still remember when it all started. I was on vacation in the Azores, and we were having a picnic in the mountains. We were up there because it was the day the village was choosing bulls for the bullfights for that afternoon. Not only was I afraid of the sight of those bulls, but I was told by someone (who will remain nameless) that these bulls liked to eat children, especially chubby little American girls who wore pig tails.
I am happy to say that I haven't had a dream with a bull for years.
