Happy Veteran's Day! For some of us it was another day at work, or like myself, a holiday day off from work. My own Veteran husband woke me this morning with a kiss before leaving for work. And later, I woke up to see my four year's face an inch away from my face requesting the Disney channel. It was a busy day, but I finally had a moment of reflection for the day. I always remember my father being pre-occupied about this holiday in particular. He would go visit the cemetary to visit his brother John's grave, who was a World War II Veteran, and he had noticed that through the years, there seemed to be fewer and fewer American flags. Every Veteran's day the cementary would post a flag for each Veteran buried, and upon noticing that it wasn't being done the same way, my father would always leave a little disappointed. This Veteran's day I did not drive up to visit my father's gravesite, and now I feel a little pre-occupied myself on whether on not there is a flag for him and my uncle. I will need to visit tomorrow.
What I did do today... Not very much. I woke up early, and basically did my housework around the activities of the 4 year old. I was able to soak my dry tierd feet in a foot bath. I scrubbed off all the dead and dry skin on the bottoms of my feet, until they were nice, soft and pink again, and immediately put some soft socks on. I cleaned some of the house, played taxi cab for the older kids, and put out some Avon brochures out in the neighborhood. I got startled by a few automatic garage doors. I hope that neighbor guy didn't hear me scream.
I felt very sneaky going up to people's homes leaving my my Avon bags. I felt that I was almost intruding, like a spy or something. No... I wasn't feeling adventurest and ring door bells and actually talk to people. May be next time. I have to warm up to the idea slowly. It's been a long time since I've tried to sell things door to door. I think the last thing I tried selling were Girl Scout cookies when I was 8. So, I quietly went up to 13 houses and quietly left my wares. Now, all I can do is wait and hope that the lucky 13 homes will give me a call one day.. By the way, if you want to order Avon online, let me know and I'll send you an email that will get you free shipping.
Yesterday evening was another party for Nick and my niece, Amanda... Naturally, Nicholas was beyond thrilled to get yet another cake and even more presents!
Daddy & Nick in front of his cake.
I got him a store bought cake this time. He is playing with the car you see sitting on the cake at this very moment in fact.
