Well, I'm finally back at work! It took me a good hour for my fingers to get used to the changing of the dates... I kept on wanting to type 6/29/07 for some reason all morning. I just cannot believe it's July already!
Last night we had an early dinner barbecue, and went out to see fireworks. Instead of going downtown and deal with the heavy traffic, we decided to go see fireworks at a different location. There is this very large church on a hill that was going to have a firework display We got there a little late and didn't want to deal with the shuttles, so we decided to view the fireworks down below at a nearby school below the hill. It was an elementary school with a picnic area, and a large baseball field. The sprinklers were on, and we had to dash out of the way from our first sitting place with a few other people.
Well, before the fireworks began we were sitting at another spot. It seemed as though the sprinklers were turned off by then. But, however, right in the middle of the fireworks display, we all heard a water sputter that was followed immediately by a scream from the lady behind us. So happened the sprinkler head was just below her beach chair, and boy was she in for a surprise! Eeekk!! I don't even want to imagine what it felt like to have a rush of cold water jetting up right up you know where! We all scrambled out of our chairs, and blankets and ran to another spot on the grass to see the remainder of the fireworks.. It was a little bizarre and chaotic, but extremely funny. The kids complained a little that the fireworks weren't as spectacular as those they usually see downtown, but they had fun-the sprinkler incident made it worth while. The first thing Nicholas said early this morning was: "Remember the fireworks?!"
Well, I am back to work with a pile of files on my desk, and of course the receptionist is gone AGAIN. Who knows why she is gone this time. Ever since she got the shingles (which cleared weeks ago) she has been finding more unrelated "spots" all over her body. Last week she reported that she found some spots in her eye and that she needed to see a eye doctor, but that was last week. WHO KNOWSwhere the spots are this week. It's all very strange. This person actually believes she is having an allergic reaction to the artificial sweetener, Splenda. Ever heard of this? Well, my supervisor did a Google on it, and sure enough, Splenda can cause "spotting" of the skin, and even depression! All of these spots remind me of that odd song that was popular sometime ago by the Crash Dummies. Remember it?! The title was: Mmmmm.
