I've home from work again today (boy, this has been a long weekend--sure feels nice!) but I haven't been able to sleep in at all because for the past two days these window men have been here at 8 am sharp. I have to hurry up and take my shower and get dressed before they arrive because basically, they've been in and out of the house, through all the rooms, and sometimes they'll surprise me and I'll see them outside of the window. There are only two of them but they work incredibly fast. They don't speak English very well; and I'm not quite sure if it's Spanish that they speak. I can understand Spanish pretty well; but I've heard the older guy speak to the younger one, and I'm guessing it might be Indian/Spanish.. I can't understand what they are saying for the life of me. Anyway..I'm loving these windows!! My house looks great---it's amazing what new windows can do on an older house!! Best of all they are all CLEAN!!!
Yesterday, my son Andrew went to the amusement park with his best friend. He wanted to take his new cell phone but after he told me that he needed more minutes (we only used prepaid cell phones from Virgin Mobile) I told him no. I don't know who he is was calling to waste up $25 of phone calls in a week; may be it's the pictures and the the IM instant messaging? I gave him my older cell phone. It can't take pictures or anything, but it's small and I thought he would be able to stick it in his pocket and not lose it. WRONG. Andy went on the Top Gun ride, and while he was going upside down, sideways...etc..my phone fell out of his pocket. I hope it didn't hit someone on the head in the process. I tried calling it, but of course it went straight to my answering machine. There is money on it, but I'm guessing it is somewhere in a bush among the other lost items that fell victim to the roller coaster. I'm guessing it's resting on an old flip flop, near some loose change in the dirt under a big hedge. Nope, I don't think I'll be seeing it again. Oh well.
Speaking of cell phones, my cousin Adelaide got my mom "hooked up"! My mom doesn't have a phone line in her home, but now has a prepaid cell phone at her house so she can keep in contact with her sister, and the rest of the outside world. Now I can call her directly without having to call my cousin Manny, and he doesn't have to run down the street to find mother. I just love this modern world---15, 20 years ago, the internet and cell phone world was not around...well, I guess it was-but to the average person. This is so great!
My nieces have already gotten their second cousin (Manny's son, Tiago) in the Azores on Myspace, and Lizzy just got done chatting away with him. Incredible, huh? Yes, I did call my mother already. She didn't hear the phone ring the first time, because she was outside cutting hydrogen flowers in her backyard. My cousin and Adelaide and I were playing email tag earlier to see whether or not I could get her to come to the phone. It was kind of funny. My mom is doing well and only has one request:
"I'm missing my brown sandals. Do you think you can bring them with you when you come in August?"
No, one can never have too many shoes. And Cin, YES, my mom tried to bring some shoes with her on carryon--3 pairs to be exact along with full sized containers of shampoo. Now, I really thought I told her that you could not bring containers with liquid no bigger than a sandwich bag on the plane as a carry on. I guess I was wrong. She basically freaked because she had to check in the bag with the luggage, and basically worried the entire flight thinking they would lose her luggage and her meds. Thank God, it didn't happen!

That is nice that your Mom is "hooked up" for communications now. I really appreciate email since moving from the East coast. --Cin
