Weekend Assignment #141: Do you enjoy traveling? Not the arriving and being where you're going, mind you; I'm asking if you enjoy the actual act of traveling from one place to another, by car or train or airplane or whatever. What I'm asking is if you enjoy the journey as much as you enjoy the destination.
Extra credit: Any more travel planned for 2006, or are you home for good for the rest of the year?
My answer: Yes and no..
What I like best about traveling is the anticipation. When I travel, it is often a fun event. I like planning the vacation, shopping for the clothes I need..etc..and looking forward to some time away.
I enjoy ROAD TRIPS!! I used to take many of them with the kids when I was a single mom, and now me and hubby take turns at the wheel. We just put on the overhead DVD player in the van and let the kids watch their movies or video games. I enjoy going through towns, stopping on the way... My favorite road trips are when we drive down to southern California (usually on our way to Disneyland). We usually stop at Pismo Beach, and Solvang, and one of my favorite places on the way--Santa Barbara. We last took a road trip to Arizona which was fun--as long as we were in the air conditioned van. NEVER go to Arizona in August.
Airplanes! I LOVE being in airports--always have. I don't know what it is about them, but I get all excited. I like watching people come and go, and the hustle and bustle of it all just excites me for some reason. Being on the airplane however, is different. I've been on many charter flights where the majority of the people speak very little English, and let's just say it has been an interesting experience. I always have the luck of being seated right behind very large people. I've been in 12 hour non-stop flights with toddlers on my lap. It's not very fun. I also cannot sleep on planes. I once dozed off however, and thought the plane was crashing, only to know that it just landed. I once flew to Las Vegas years back with a bunch of friends of mine. NEVER sit by people who just ate foot long hot dogs. Thank God it was a short flight.
Extra Credit: Any more travel in 2006? No...not that I'm aware of..

I love road trips, too...but you just made me want to go to Portugal!
maybe when i am old i will enjoy the road trips but two different trips from Ohio to Florida with a pre teen male who had an active bladder and hunger issues was enough to drive me batty. LOL
