It was great not having to pile the kids early this morning and take them to school, or go to work today!! YIPPEE!! I was also able to do some chores, and go to the grocery store, where it was nice and not busy--very unlike it always is on Saturday mornings!!
It's easy to forget that today is a day set aside to honor our Veterans, and those who have fallen for our country. Whether you are against it or for U.S's occupation in Iraq, our children, our fathers, our mothers, our sisters, or brothers are there to protect our freedoms.
Today, I remember, of course my father who served in the U.S. Army in Korea, and my Uncle John, who also served in the U.S. Army during WW II in Germany--he did not return the same person. Unfortunately, he passed away years before I was born. I also remember my husband, who served in the U.S. Navy, serving in Cuba--(he didn't get the day off). And, I also remember my niece, Kassandra--she is in the U.S. AirForce stationed in Italy.
I hope you all have a great 3 day weekend, but please think of our military. Say a prayer, or light a candle, or a write a letter. Pray for peace!
