Tis' Friday!!

Friday...  Allelujah!!  It couldn't have gotten here any quicker!!!

It's bbbrrrrrrrrrrr COLD over here.  According to the weather people on T.V. this weekend it's suppossed to be the coldest.  What I will be doing this weekend:  Christmas cards--for the overseas people in my life--the ex-in-laws.  The other overseas cards are going to be personally delivered by our friend, Mr. Almeida.  He is going over to the Azores next month to visit his family, and his beautiful girlfriend, my cousin's daughter-Tania.  They are such a cute couple.  I have some photo CD's still to make, and albums to buy...

I got my first Christmas card in the mail!!!  All the way from Florida----Thanks Lyn :)

Thank you for your comments in regards to the pictures I was contemplating to buy for above the fireplace.  I didn't purchase either one of them.  I am still undecided.  I let my daughter look at the selections, and after she looked at what I had picked, she gave me a grin and announced that they were all boring selections.  Oh well.  My daughter is honest..almost brutally honest to a point.  I went looking some more, and found myself in the "humor" art section of the website I was looking at.  I kid you not that I was toying with the idea of getting these for over the fireplace:

Kind of cute...or what about this one?

Or, why not this..the ever classic?

Sorry, I have a weird sense of humor at the moment.

I did some shopping with my daughter yesterday evening.  Shopping is actually tolerable during the late hours.  We found a coat my daughter really, really wanted, and other gift items.  I love Marshalls.  I don't know if you are familar with that store, but they have the cutest stuff for the home there.  I had fun smelling all the fancy olive oil soaps.  We got home after 9:30, and we would have stayed longer if we didn't have Nicholas with us.

I realized that I sent an email for Avon free shipping to a few of you where you had to buy $40 worth of stuff...  That wasn't the email I intended to send!  Let me make it easier for you all.  When you go to my Website :

http://julielangley.avonrepresentative.com/

Type the following in the coupon code box at check out:  REPSS.  That will give you FREE shipping. Oh, by the way...  Thank you Miss Mary. :)

Have a wonderful weekend everybody!!!

Thursday

Yes, Christmas music is now blaring form the radio station at work.  Oh, now Wham!  is playing on the radio...  "Last Christmas"--cute song.  Before the Pointer Sister's came on it was "Christmas Shoes."  Oh I can't stand that one--the words always make me cry--I always get suckered in with that song.

This morning I went out "fishing" for customers at the county building--leaving Avon brochures in all the women's bathrooms on each floor of the building , and then in the cafeteria.  I must say--it was good exercise.  I have still some more to put in the bathrooms, here in the ghetto.  Yesterday I was surprised to get a call from someone from the IRS office.  I don't know if I mentioned this before, but the IRS people here are a strange group of people.  They work behind unmarked doors, and don't talk much to others that work in the building.  The IRS woman that called me sounded a little mysterious.  She told me to knock "3 times" at her door when I made my delivery.  Isn't that an Orlando and Dawn song?  "Knock 3 Times On the Ceiling If You Want Me..."  Remember that oldie, but goodie?  Anyway, I guess the IRS people have a "secret code knock"...  Good to know, huh?

I know it's not even December yet, but a lot of people are all decorated for Christmas already.  I need to send out some Christmas cards to overseas by this weekend, and hopefully this weekend we can put up the Christmas tree.  Nicholas is really excited about this--the other kids I don't think could care less.  It's a sad reality, but once kids get older, into their teens they aren't too excited about decorating the tree, and I and husband end up doing it all ourselves.  I was NEVER that way.  May be it is because I was the youngest child, but I always loved doing the tree at Christmas, and it never was up soon enough for me.  Oh well--I didn't have internet access back then or Myspace, or an Ipod, or CD player. I just had a record player and enjoyed lip syncing to Pat Benatar and Abba.

So far today I've managed to hit my knee on the door at McDonalds, and hit my head on the trunk hood of my car.  Lovely.  I've also dropped numerous files on the floor.  Hmm..  I guessI'm having a clumsy day---or if you believe in old world folklore--"someone" is trying to contact me with some good news.  Hmm...  I will keep you posted.

Since it's Thankful Thursday, here are a few things I'm thankful for today:

1.  My job.  Yep, the gas money on this commute I could do without, but I am thankful for a very flexible schedule, and really nice supervisors and staff that are very family friendly.  If I need a break to walk on the ocean--I can.  Not many places can let you do that, huh?

2.  My car.  Yep..it's getting a tad old and dirty, and a few scratches here and there, but it gets me from A to B.

3.  My kids & family.  They drive me crazy sometimes; but they keep me sane.  I know that doesn't make sense-but I don't like being alone.

4.  My hubby.  No matter what a crazy day I have---the craziness just goes away when I'm with him--just like a 6'2 teddy bear.

Whhoohhoooo!!! Extremely good news for Extreme Fans!

I was listening to the radio this afternoon, and I shouted with delight upon hearing the news!  Whoohooo!!!  Go Nuno, go Nuno!!!  (Remember the story of how I met his brother? HA HA HA HA!)

Update: Extreme Reuniting For 2008 Album, Tour
Extreme
November 26, 2007, 12:00 AM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. and Gary Graff, Detroit
Boston-based rock outfit Extreme is reuniting for its first studio album in 13 years and world tour in 2008, Billboard has learned. The group, best known for the 1991 No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit "More Than Words," disbanded in 1996 but reformed briefly in 2004 and 2006.

Details are pending on the album, which is being produced by guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, and the tour dates. Extreme now includes original members Bettencourt, frontman Gary Cherone and bassist Pat Badger, along with new drummer Kevin Figueiredo.

Of late, the band has reached a new audience thanks to the inclusion of its song "Play With Me" in the video game "Guitar Hero."

"It's a real record," Bettencourt tells Billboard.com of the new Extreme album, which will likely include such songs as "King" and "You're a Star." "It's not just a throwaway to tour with. i think it's gonna be one of our better records yet."

Extreme will likely perform a new song Saturday (Dec. 1) at the Boston Music Awards. "Me and Gary are still e-mailing back and forth trying to finish up the lyrics on this one," Bettencourt admits. "We don't even have the lyrics or the title
in it. That's kind of how new everything really is."

Cyber Monday

Hello...

So, it's officially Cyber Monday.  (Doesn't that sound dirty?)

Have you shopped online today?  I confess that I did-only for toys though.  I only have one child who wants toys this year.  Kind of sad, huh?  My older child wants a filing system to keep her important papers in order.  Boring, huh?  The other two boys don't know what they want because they have everything they want already.  What do I buy? Underwear or what?  My youngest however wants EVERYTHING he sees in the commericals that run on Nickelodeon & the Disney Channels.

I got an email from Mary, Mary (you know who you are)  the other day telling me of an Avon blog that she came across.  An Avon blog?  Hmmm...  The blog so far is still empty.  I guess I could write about Avon here, but I think that would be a little too boring for me.  Anyways, I can only refer to my web site, and I can't actually sell anything on this blog because it would be against Avon Rules & Regulations.  But, I can show you my website:

http://julielangley.avonrepresentative.com/

(My shameful "plug" for the day.)

There.  It's Cyber Monday--go wild and buy some Skin So Soft why don't  you!

If you want free shipping--let me know.  I can make it happen.

Meanwhile, I need your opinion.  Which picture would you like seeing above a fireplace:

This one or...

Or this one?

Yes, I have a thing for boats and the ocean.  It's the Portuguese girl inside of me.  My husband and I are in agreement with ocean and boats.  I think he has a little Portugee somewhere in his ancestory that he just doesn't know about.

Let me know.  I'm shopping for my livingroom.  The sale ends tonight of course.  Currently I have this mirror clock above my fireplace that needs to go down.

My "Black Friday"

Hello..  I hope this reaches everyone well..

Like many of us, I was up at the crack of down.  I got all the kids packed in the van (yes, all four of them), and husband had his large thermos all ready for the big day.  We were all set; difference was--we weren't headed for all  big sales at the mall.  Nope, we were on our way home back to California.  I wish I had a picture of my in-laws-waving goodbye--they looked so cute, in shorts and bath robe.

Anyway, we would have left later, but my daughter had to work on Black Friday at the mall.  We made home in about 9 1/2 hours, but they were very L O N G hours.  The hardest part was just when we past Needles, and Barstow.  The moon was white, and bright-a full moon lighting up the sky like a big marble when we left Arizona.  The sky there is huge.  I kept my eye out for those Arizona lights people talk about.  No UFO's were seen.  I was thankful of no close encounters.  Apparently there was a sighting earlier this week.   Slowly after Bartsow,  the once white moon turned into a bright orange.  It floated right above the horizon until it eventually disappeared.  That was the hardest few hours.  We kept awake with coffee, soda, and the chips the kids didn't eat for the trip.  The kids were all sleeping, snoring away...we sat there keeping awake.  I tried to stay awake, but caught myself dosing a few times.  I didn't want to fall asleep because I know hubby was tired.  It was hard, but it was nice alone time-even if weren't alone.

I love California.  It's the land of my birth--don't get me wrong, but there are some places in this state that are not worth visiting.  I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but, Needles, California is nothing to write about.  It has to be the most unattractive places I've ever been to.  Barstow, isn't that much better--believe me.  I kept on thinking of that song, "Leaving Las Vegas" by Sheryl Crowe..  You know that line, "went up to Barstow for the night to meet some crossroad trucker to demonstrate his might.."  Well, if you want to meet a truck driver, it's the place to go, but  don't leave Las Vegas Sheryl; if you know what I mean.  Nothing against truck drivers either, mind you.  We made some stops for the bathroom, and although I appreciate the fact that there were bathrooms along the Mojave desert, those were the nastiest bathrooms I've ever encountered.  Eeek.  If ever in the area, hold it in until you reach a rest area.  They are much cleaner.

Anyway, the trip was pleasant and we had a great time with Rich's parents.  Just wish we could have stayed longer.  Sun City West is the most quiet and cleanest towns I've ever been to.  I can understand why people choose to retire there.  It's quite a nice place to live, I'm sure.  All the homes are immaculate, with cute rock gardens, fountains, and little bunnies and quail families running about.  No garbage cans--they garbage is kept in the ground in front of the house.  It looks a little odd, but you have to love the idea.  The garbage gets picked up twice a week.  The gutters are in the middle of the road for monsoon weather in the summer.  It's pretty interesting.

Rich and I took a walk and took a few pictures of the little guy.

In front of my in-law's home.

I have more pictures, but for some reason, AOL won't let me load them.  I also took some other cute pictures, but I'm not going to upload them here.  It will ruin my inlaw's Christmas card surprise.

We made it home in record time.  Grandma Bobbie fed the kids again before they left, so we didn't have to stop to eat until we got closer to home.  We stopped in Hollister, California and ate at Casa De Fruta.  A great place to stop; especially if you like fruit, chocolate covered fruit, and every kind of candy and nut you can imagine.  There is also a camping ground, a western theme playground, a restaurant, a train, a wine house...etc...  Everything starts as Casa da..  So there is a Casa de Wine...Casa of Chocolate...etc..etc...

Nick & Lizzy on the Orchard Express.

Andrew's nose looks better now.  No black eyes, thank God.

The Casa de Carousel..

One happy guy..

It was a great Friday.  Do I regret not going to the mall?  NO!!  Not a bit.  I am still feeling a bit tired though.  The thought of standing in line at the mall with the hundreds of Christmas shoppers does not excite me at all.  We passed many malls on the way home, and I was relieved to know I wasn't one of them.  I think most of my shopping this year will be done online.

Remember, I DO sell Avon.  There are lots and lots of great gifts available at my web site.  If you want free shipping, let me know---I will send you the email.  :)  My site:

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks to Cab's Creations for the above graphic...

Hello!  It's only Tuesday, but so far, this week is turning into a long one already..

My son got "elbowed" in the nose yesterday at school while he and his buddies were playing football.  His nose is swollen, and after a visit with the doctor's yesterday, the injury may give way to two black eyes.  The holiday photo this week is not going to happen.  Oh well.  It's sad, but he is in no pain.  He is going to see another doctor later after the swelling is down to see if it's broken.  I doubt it, but you can never know.  Perhaps this little incident will give him second thoughts on whether he really wants to play football next year.  It's too rough of a sport in my opinion; but what sport really isn't?  He is at my mom's house right now with another ice pack on his poor swollen face.  Sigh..

This week, Andrew and his friends were out there spreading my Avon brochures around the neighborhood.  It was quite a sight to see these four boys carrying Avon brochures asking women if they would like one.  Who could say "no" ?!  Of course my son didn't do it for free-I paid him.  I couldn't believe he was willing do it.  It produced one call so far..  And those brochures I left in the bathrooms at the county buildings...well they produced a few too.  There just isn't enough reading material in county bathrooms.  I must go back there again and make my rounds!!

Today I'm meeting my former co-worker who left the ghetto offices for lunch for a turkey sandwich.  It shall be fun.  We usually have some Thanksgiving potluck, but for some reason-not this year.  Perhaps it's because this former co-worker would get stuck with the planning of it all?!  Me thinks so...  And, I didn't volunteer either, and I have no regrets.

I will not be home for Thanksgiving this year, so this will be my entry for Jlanders...  Have a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving--I hope you are surrounded by the ones you care most about.  If not-I hope memories of pastThanksgivings will brighten your day.

Well, it's road trip time!  Time the fill the kiddos in the van and venture off to Arizona to see Grandma Bobbie and Grandpa Dave!  We are going to head out very early tomorrow morning.  It will be fun, and hopefully warm.  It's getting a tad chilly over here in California lately--won't go higher than 65 at the moment.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Strange Week

Hello---

Not very many entries this week, due to the fact I've been feeling a little loopy lately.  I don't know if it is the position of Mars in the solar system this week, but I've had a week of never ending driving in circles and unneeded stress.  The Monday holiday just put me out of whack, I don't know what..but it's been a long, and tired week.  It doesn't help the fact that I have a tooth that is killing me.  I went to the dentist a few weeks ago for a permanent crown.  Mind you, the tooth was not hurting at all BEFORE my temporary was replaced--NOW it hurts.  I don't understand it either.  I'm guessing the dentist (who is not my normal one) did not ground my permanent crown down enough, because I can feel it.  URrrg...

I went with my mom to her doctor's appointment the other day, and I can hardly understand her doctor.  She has a thick accent.  Of course, after we left the office, my mother had hardly any idea what this woman told her.  Urrg..  I am not lying when I tell you had I had to make at least 3 phone calls back to speak to the doctor's nurse for clarification.  Between my mom's questions, and trying to remember exactly what her doctor said...it was all a blur.  My mom is afraid to take her bone medicine--she read the side effects that may occur, and she doesn't like the idea of sitting in a chair for one hour when taking the medication, with a large cup of water.  I know..sounds scary, huh?  Not really--huh?

I swear, I will never shop at JCPenny ever again.  We ordered a piece of furniture (a hutch), and it arrived broken.  I ordered a new one, and after I was told the item was in stock, a week later I'm told it isn't.  THEN I finally get a new one, and wouldn't you know, it was broken too.  Luckily my husband fixed it, and we did get a credit.  I'm sure if we ordered another one it would come broken too.  Then when all seemed fine and done with, our credit card bill comes, and lookie here, JCPenny charged us two times for the same item.  Urrg.  I was on the phone with them for almost a hour, and supposively it has been resolved.  Never again, I tell you...never again.  I got three JCPenny magazines in the mail recently, and I threw them all away.

It's getting pretty nippy out.  The sun is shining, but lately in the mornings, it has been soooo cold.  Time to get the electric blanket out of the closet.  Next week we are off to Arizona for Thanksgiving!  It's still pretty warm over there, and I can bring my summer clothes!  My son Andrew will be happy--he can wear shorts!  As for the NJ trip, well, ex hasn't sent the money that he promised last week he was going to send for the tickets.  Oh well.  As far as I care, the kids can just stay home and not go-less stress for me; but disappointment for the kids.  No win situation.

Anyways, I got an email from a customer of mine telling me that my website was down, and she got a message that I no longer sold the stuff.  Hmm..  Not true!  I'm still up!  It gets me a little upset because I do pay each month for my website.  If any of you happen to visit me, please let me know if  you get that message so I can complain to someone.  Also, anyone interested in free shipping?  Let me know, I'll send you a free shipping code.

I don't know about you, but I miss Princess Aurora's clever little memes and entries.  Don't you?

Happy Monday

Happy Veteran's Day!  For some of us it was another day at work, or like myself,  a holiday day off from work.  My own Veteran husband woke me this morning with a kiss before leaving for work.  And later, I woke up to see my four year's face an inch away from my face requesting the Disney channel.  It was a busy day, but I finally had a moment of reflection for the day.  I always remember my father being pre-occupied about this holiday in particular.  He would go visit the cemetary to visit his brother John's grave, who was a World War II Veteran, and he had noticed that through the years, there seemed to be fewer and fewer American flags.  Every Veteran's day the cementary would post a flag for each Veteran buried, and upon noticing that it wasn't being done the same way, my father would always leave a little disappointed.  This Veteran's day I did not drive up to visit my father's gravesite, and now I feel a little pre-occupied myself on whether on not there is a flag for him and my uncle.  I will need to visit tomorrow.

What I did do today...  Not very much.  I woke up early, and basically did my housework around the activities of the 4 year old.  I was able to soak my dry tierd feet in a foot bath.  I scrubbed off all the dead and dry skin on the bottoms of my feet, until they were nice, soft and pink again, and immediately put some soft socks on.  I cleaned some of the house, played taxi cab for the older kids, and put out some Avon brochures out in the neighborhood.  I got startled by a few automatic garage doors.  I hope that neighbor guy didn't hear me scream.

I felt very sneaky going up to people's homes leaving my my Avon bags.  I felt that I was almost intruding, like a spy or something.  No...  I wasn't feeling adventurest and ring door bells and actually talk to people.  May be next time.  I have to warm up to the idea slowly.  It's been a long time since I've tried to sell things door to door.  I think the last thing I tried selling were Girl Scout cookies when I was 8.  So, I quietly went up to 13 houses and quietly left my wares.  Now, all I can do is wait and hope that the lucky 13 homes will give me a call one day..  By the way, if you want to order Avon online, let me know and I'll send you an email that will get you free shipping.

Yesterday evening was another party for Nick and my niece, Amanda...  Naturally, Nicholas was beyond thrilled to get yet another cake and even more presents!

Daddy & Nick in front of his cake.

I got him a store bought cake this time.  He is playing with the car you see sitting on the cake at this very moment in fact.

Happy Birthdays

AOL has finally been cooperative with me today..  Here are some of the pictures I promised, but never got around to.

Lizzy and her colorful haired friends..

The jump house.  My niece and son are standing on the far left.

Inside the jump house.  It's actually kinda of fun.  Lizzy is surrounded by her friends inside-Nick is on her lap.

It's hard blowing those 4 candles!  Spit cake anyone?

The birthday boy surrounded by his brother and sister.

Waiting to blow the candles..

One happy four year old!!

Friday, Finally...Hurrah!!

Friday is here, and it couldn't have gotten here any quicker.  It's a 3 day holiday for me!!  YIPPPEEE!!  Yes, it's Veteran's Day weekend!

I was up late last night trying to do an entry, but none of my pictures I wanted to share would  load.  This made me mad.  Oh well--I hope to be able to post them tonight.

Monday was my youngest's 4th birthday!  I've been so busy lately, I couldn't even post an entry for the poor boy.  Hopefully those pictures I took will post tonight.  We only had a small little party at home with just me, daddy, and  his siblings.  He was smiling from ear to ear though.  This weekend we are heading to my brother's house to celebrate my niece's birthday, and Nicholas' so it will be a double birthday celebration.  It shall be fun.

Well, it looks like my two older kids are venturing off to the east coast to see their father in NJ at the end of the year.  It will only be for five days--five days of constant worry on my part, but they really want to go-I can't hold them back.  They will be spending New Years there, and coming back a few days afterwards.  My daughter was asking me whether or not she has to buy boots for her trip.  "You mean I can't wear my flats?!"  I know a lot of you live out in NJ--give me some advice of what the kids should be wearing, please.  My son Andrew lives in shorts all year long.  I am thinking this is not going to be possible for winter time in New Jersey, huh?  Let me know.  I'm going to be worrying about them enough--at least I know they will be clothed properly.

I am so ready for it to be Friday today.  I was at the receptionist desk (yes, she didn't show up today-something to do about her 98 year old mother), and it was non-stop.  I had 3 sex offender felons sitting in the waiting room.  Can you say, "Eww?" I'll say if for you...  "EEEEWWW!!"  Anyway, there was one in particular who came up to the window, and leaned a little too much on the glass window.  I actually heard the glass move from his protruding stomach.  I swear, I think this guy was trying to flirt with me..  Can you say, "Eeew" again, please?!  "EEEEWWW!!!"  Later, this guy in a pumpkin velhor jogging suit comes in who had a million and one questions of why his expunge wasn't approved.  Oh my Lord.  It took all my patience in my being from not yelling at the man.  After a moment of silence in the lobby, here comes this goof ball, with his whole extended family in tow in the lobby.  The whole clan was chatting away pleasantly as if they were at a party or something.  Who cares their son is on the D.V. caseload for beating the crap out of hise wife..  Here we are all together like a happy family at the probation department...lade da!  I just don't understand-nor do I want to.

Anyway, did I mention it was Friday yet?!  Here is a Meme I got from the Princess--she got it from :

Gillie Time

Feel free to play along!

4 Jobs I've Had

1.  Parking lot leaf blower (I'm not kidding) I did it one night with my ex-husband.  After that one night, I never did it again.  I wore a leaf blower on my back, and I felt like a real life ghostbuster.  I was so sore from that one night...  Eeek

2.  Newspaper Hotline Girl.  Yes, the paper carriers would call my "Hotline" and report the finish time of their route.  I had a lot of cute little boys call me.  I was 19.

3.  Customer Service Retail.  Oh the stories from that experience is never ending.  People are interesting--especially the shoppoholics..

4.  Cashier at an amusement park.  I was 18 so I was able to ring up beer.  I'll never forget my first customer.  He walked up to the register and ordered beer with two of his buddies.  He wore a dog collar and chain, and one friend was holding the chain.  Very interesting.  I was famous for the chili hot dogs however.  Regular patrons requested them by me.  Wow, huh? And you thought you really knew me.

Sugar High

Here is Nick after a hearty night of Trick Or Treating with Daddy.

Nicholas was a chicken!  I bought this costume a few years ago...  It ain't going to fit next year!

This year husband took the chicken out for trick or treating, and I stayed home and passed out candy.  For some reason, I don't think there were as many trick or treaters as there was last year.  As for the Avon baggies, I did pass some out, but only gave them to the moms that came to the door.  You can imagine my delight when I opened the door and saw two older women standing there-one was dressed as a chicken and the other a cat.  It was pretty funny.  They seemed happy with the Avon bags.

I did have quite a few left over.  I took them all to work and placed them in the county building across the street.  Each bag has candy in it, tied with yellow and orange bows.  I saw a few people looking at those bags when crossing the street, and I do not lie that I was quite tempted to give some to some very hungry looking men waiting for court..  But..my phone number is on the brochures-not a good idea to give those out to just anybody.  (If you know what I mean..)  I did leave them in the cafeteria and in various bathrooms in the building.  Reading material for the bathroom, and a chocolate treat to go with it..  Who could ask for more?  HA HA HA..

Well, some of you have been inquiring about the receptionist.  Well.. She has been here the last 3 days-believe it or not.  She was "spoken" to (at last)..and things are getting quite "serious".  It's either, no show, or "bye bye".  We shall see how long this lasts.

I don't know what is in the air, but there are a lot of strange people calling me this week at work.  Some of it isn't even work related.  May be the fact that Day Light Savings Time is late this year, and the hour change has gotten people stranger than usual...or may be it was the earthquake that we recently had that has gotten people on edge.  I don't know..  I just know that I've gotten some very strange people calling me.  I could tell you about it, but--well, I can't in detail.  All I can tell you is the neon sign over my head reading: "Dear Abby" is flashing above my head again.  Strangers are calling me seeking advice.  Why, God, why?!  All these people are crazy!  My boss lady thinks I'm in the wrong profession.  I should have chosen the field of psychology or psychic advisor.

May be it's just the sugar that is everywhere.  People are consuming masses and masses of mini sized candies all week.  I've been seeing old discarded wrappers everywhere; in the hallways, in the reception area, on the street, sidewalks, around the county building...  And now, thanks to me, in the women's bathrooms...  Perhaps that is why I'm getting so many weird calls.  My number is out there, with chocolate!  What have I done?!

I have yet to get an order though.  Pooey.
